1. The Slip-and-Cardigan Dinner Look

For family dinners and low-key get-togethers, layer a soft lace cami or slip dress under a fluffy cardigan. Add tights, ballet flats or Mary Janes, and a ribbon in your hair. It's polished enough for photos and comfy enough for a second helping of dessert.

5 Ways to Style a Vintage Pink Lace Cami This Fall

A pink lace cami is one of those pieces that looks delicate but works incredibly hard. It can be soft and fairy-like one day and a little bit edgy the next, and it's one of the biggest Y2K pieces of the season.

I just listed two of my favorites, so here are five easy ways to wear one, even as the weather cools down.

1. Under a Chunky Cardigan

This is the easiest way to keep a cami in rotation all fall. Layer it under a cozy, slightly oversized cardigan and leave the top few buttons open so the lace peeks out. Cream, chocolate brown or soft grey knits all look lovely with blush pink.

2. With Low-Rise or Bootcut Denim

For the classic early-2000s look, pair your cami with light-wash low-rise or bootcut jeans. Add a skinny belt, a little shoulder bag and platform sandals or sneakers, and you have an outfit that feels straight out of 2003 in the best way.

3. Fairycore Layers

Go full whimsy with a sheer or mesh top layered over your cami, a floaty floral skirt and a ribbon or butterfly clip in your hair. The lace adds texture under the sheer layer and keeps the whole look soft and dreamy.

Every year someone says the Y2K revival is about to fade, and every year it comes back a little louder. This fall the early-2000s mood is everywhere, from the runways to your feed, and the real thing is still hanging on thrift store racks.

Here are the seven trends I'm most excited about this season, plus how to wear each one with original secondhand pieces instead of new copies.

Lace Camis, Layered Up

The lace-trim cami is back, but for colder months it's all about layering. Let one peek out from under a cardigan, a cropped zip-up or an oversized blazer. Slinky satin and stretchy mesh versions from the early 2000s are easy to find secondhand and often feel softer than anything new.

Bootcut Jeans

Bootcut denim is fully back. Low-rise is still around, but mid- and high-rise pairs make the shape easier to wear every day. Original 2000s jeans tend to have the fun details: contrast stitching, flap pockets and light, faded washes. Let them graze the floor over platform boots or chunky sneakers.

Mini Skirts, All Season Long

Micro hems aren't just for summer. Layer a denim or pleated mini over sheer or patterned tights, add knee-high boots and a cozy knit, and you're ready for fall.

• Hats: baker-boy caps and fluffy bucket hats change the whole mood of an outfit.
• Little shoulder bags: the tucked-under-the-arm kind. Pre-loved ones are often the best versions.

My rule: one sparkly piece per outfit, whether that's a rhinestone belt or a rhinestone baby tee, and keep the rest simple.

When a trend comes back, fast fashion rushes to copy it, and the copies all start to look the same. How I Source Vintage: Inside My Thrift Hunt

Every piece in my shop started as a lucky find on a crowded rack, and the hunt is my favorite part. Here is how I source vintage and Y2K clothing, from where I look to what I check before anything comes home with me.

If you have ever wondered why thrifted pieces cost what they do, or how to spot a good one yourself, this one is for you.

Where I Look

The best finds rarely come from one place, so I rotate through a few favorite spots:

• Thrift stores: I go often and early, because new racks go out all the time. Checking the weird corners, like the kids' section and the men's section, is how I find tiny baby tees and oversized fairycore cardigans.
• Estate sales: These are great for true vintage. Pieces have often been kept in a closet for decades, so they are in lovely shape.
• Flea markets and garage sales: Fun for chatting with sellers and finding one-of-a-kind accessories.
• Clothing bins: Messy, but the prices are low and the treasure-to-junk ratio can be surprisingly good.

What I Check Before I Buy

I only bring home pieces I would be proud to wear myself. Before anything reaches the register, I run through a quick checklist:

1. Fabric and feel: Natural fibers and sturdy knits tend to last. I look for pilling, thinning, and stretched-out necklines.
2. Flaws: I check underarms, hems, zippers, and seams in good light. Small flaws are fine if I can describe them honestly.
3. Tags and details: Old tags, tiny labels, and unusual stitching help me tell real vintage from newer pieces made to look retro.
4. Size and fit: Vintage sizing runs differently from today's, so I always measure rather than trust the tag.

From Rack to Your Closet

Once a piece is home, it gets a gentle wash or careful hand-clean, depending on the fabric, and a good steam. Then I photograph it in natural light and measure it.
